da(ZE)ys (for a fallen friend… we’ll miss’ya)

cold coffee
newspaper ink
sugar sinks
clump bottom
“Suddenly…”
good man dies
smile greet
“How ‘ya doin’?”
poor boy
fatherless left
musician
find his rhythm

saw him on Thursday
spoke
plans for Monday
time for a friend
dead on Friday
none left but a memory
whisper of plans gone
laughs mute
smiles buried

flowers for a boy
“Anything you need…”
won’t be enough
void unfilled
father son
together linked
like father before
gone just the same
heart succumbs
weighted pressure

poor, poor boy
bye, bye man

we’ll miss you
